Tap wurde 1979 in Anlehnung an alte Schreibmaschinen entworfen. Die Konturen bestehen aus scheinbar regellosen Aus- und Einbuchtungen, Buckel und Dellen, die die reizvollen Eigenarten der Schreibmaschinentypen simulieren. Die Buckel und Dellen sitzen durchaus nicht wahllos irgendwo, sondern dort, wo sie der großen Form oder der Zeilenbildung zugute kommen.
