Brasil combines the qualities of a grotesque and a roman. By contrast to Optima, which is a roman without serifs, this is a sans-serif with rising stroke ends. It has very expressive curves and the verticals meet the base line with a pronounced emphasis. Together these create a more closed and at the same time more vibrant line formation, than purely grotesque typefaces can achieve. Originality and progressiveness are the main features of this typeface. It has a large clear image without a hint of playfulness; it is elegant but not bloodless, sharp but not cold.
Brasil Fonts are available in different versions:
OpenType Basic covers the
Western and Central European character set and contains one set of numerals (tabular figures).
OpenType Expert covers the
Western and Central European character set, contains various numerals and other
OpenType features.OpenType Basic contains only the black characters, OpenType Expert contains the grey characters too.
